TAHOE CITY, Calif. The Tahoe Fund and USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) have announced a new collaboration. They are looking for community-based artists to “beautify” the blank interiors of the restrooms at the Stateline Fire Lookout Trail in Crystal Bay, the Logan Shoals Vista Point on Tahoe’s East Shore, and the Tallac Historic Site on the South Shore.

They hope murals depicting Tahoe’s plants, animals, and beautiful landscapes will reduce vandalism, and inspire people to take care of Tahoe.

Two new shows have been added to the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey's Tahoe: Dan + Shay, and Lake Tahoe is for Lovers. Country music stars Dan + Shay embark on their Heartbreak on the Map Tour this month, and it has been extended into the summer. The three-time Grammy Award winners will have Jake Owen and Dylan Marlowe on the tour with them.

Their Lake Tahoe stop is Sunday, September 15 at 7 p.m. Dan + Shay will be the new coaches on The Voice for the upcoming season.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Celebrate the history of one of the biggest legends of the Sierra Nevada when the Lake Tahoe Historial Society hosts the 21st annual Snowshoe Thompson Ski & Snowshoe Celebration on Sunday, March 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This free event will be held in the History Complex, 3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

How did we get to where we are today? David Antonucci answers some of these questions in his book, The Environmental History of Lake Tahoe. He'll cover some of the 170 years of Euro-American occupation of the Lake Tahoe Basin and sequential cultural eras that left Tahoe impacted. It is a compelling story with a complex cast of characters, beginning with native peoples, and loggers, and extending to land developers, environmentalists, tourists, politicians, and scientists.

Hear the firsthand account from the frontlines with Yonatan Haber from the 55th Paratroopers Brigade, a reserve-service Infantry Brigade in the Israeli Defense Forces.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As the excitement builds for Super Bowl LVIII, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) reminds football fans to intercept impaired driving if they are heading out to a Super Bowl party and plan on drinking. Make sure you stick to the “Go Safely” game plan and choose a sober way to go.

During Super Bowl LVIII weekend (Feb. 10 and 11), SLTPD will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Over the weekend, the Cheer and Dance Teams of South Tahoe High School took part in the Northern Nevada Cheer and Dance Invitational. The Cheer Team performed exceptionally, earning a well-deserved 3rd place trophy. The Dance Team also shined by competing in multiple categories and capturing two 1st place trophies in the Hip Hop and Pom Dance divisions. Moreover, Madison Cisneros delivered a breathtaking contemporary solo performance that earned her a 3rd place win.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - "You bet on us, so we placed a bet for you," said the favors at the September 2023 wedding of locals Matt and Jessica Grime at the 4H Camp in Stateline.

What was that bet you ask?

The Grimes purchased 180 $2 tickets at the Harveys Lake Tahoe sportsbook for the San Francisco 49ers to win the Super Bowl. They made the bets on June 7, so each $2 bet would pay out $17 extra, for a total of $19, with the +850 money line it came with should the 49ers win on Sunday.

This letter is in response to the letter written by Property Manager Kevin Kjer. Mr. Kjer has been making a substantial sum of money renting homes in purely residential neighborhoods to people who don’t care about the community, abuse their neighbors, and regularly trespass on neighbors’ land and HOA’s docks and beaches.

Minden Mill Distilling continues its Eastern Sierra History Series with a slide show, The Big Bang, on Sunday, January 14 at 1 p.m. Using seldom-seen photos, extensive research, and eyewitness accounts, local authors and historians David & Gayle Woodruff recount the incredible, true and bizarre story of a calculating and disgruntled gambler and his attempt to extort three million dollars from the historic Harvey’s Casino Lake Tahoe in August of 1980.

The 55-minute slide show features dozens of historic and seldom-seen images.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Did you know human trafficking is often a crime that is hidden in plain sight and is only visible to those who know the signs and indicators? There are also many myths regarding trafficking, which is why educating ourselves is critical. Many believe traffickers are usually strangers to the victim when, in fact, that’s the most uncommon situation.

Current statistics show that around 42 percent of trafficking victims were brought into trafficking by a member of their own families, and 39 percent were recruited via an intimate partner or a marriage proposition.
