New Valhalla Tahoe "Evening on the Lawn" concerts this summer

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre festival schedule this summer is a full one and they've added a new event this summer, Evening Music on the Lawn.

The grand lawn at Valhalla has been a popular spot for Sunday afternoon concerts and now there will be two evening lawn concerts in 2017. Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic supper and enjoy some music, there will be a beer and wine garden too.

Heavenly Village offers free outdoor concerts all summer

The Shops at Heavenly Village will host free outdoor concerts every Friday and Saturday evening through Labor Day from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at their main stage.

Missoula Children's Theatre returns to South Lake Tahoe for the 39th time

For the past 38 years, Missoula Children's Theatre has been coming to South Lake Tahoe, transforming youth into actors and actresses in just a few days.

This year the production is Alice in Wonderland.

Auditions will be held on Monday, July 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at South Tahoe Middles School's multi-purpose room (STMS MPR). Approximately 50-60 local children will be cast to appear in the show.

Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Teresa Duffy will lead the 107th annual Carson Valley Days parade as the Grand Marshall. The theme of the parade and festival is "A Salute to First Responders."

The Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club is organizing the event which runs from June 9 to June 11. The club wanted to raise awareness, celebrate, honor and, most importantly, say thank you to the first responders of Douglas County, those who protect the community on a daily basis.

Live at Lakeview returns for sixth season in South Lake Tahoe

Summer is almost here and its time to start planning your Thursday evenings in South Lake Tahoe with a stop at Live at Lakeview, the summer concert series on the beach.

Starting June 22 and every Thursday until August 31, the free concerts will be at Lakeview Commons at the corner of Lakeview Avenue and Highway 50 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Toyota and the City of South Lake Tahoe are presenting the series with On Course Events.

Nevada State Fair this weekend, El Dorado County Fair follows

Area residents and visitors can enjoy two big fairs with rides, music and exhibits. The 2017 Nevada State Fair runs from June 8 to June 11, and the El Dorado County Fair goes from June 15-18.

A reception to unveil the new art gallery at City Hall in South lake Tahoe will be held on Monday, June 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to this free event.

The City and Tahoe Arts Alliance (TAA) have teamed up on the project which will bring work of local artists to the walls at the entrance of City Hall at the airport. Their art will be rotated throughout the year and all art will be available for purchase.

The new art gallery reception will include a meet and greet with displaying artists and city officials.

From England to Tahoe, Jim McCarty to bring classic Yardbirds sound to Harrah's

From their 1960s heyday, through being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, to performing on the Harrah's Tahoe stage, the one constant in the legendary Yardbirds has been drummer Jim McCarty.

Most will remember the Yardbirds for two things. First is the fact that being part of the band launched the careers of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Secondly, the Yardbirds are remembered for their long list of classic hits including “For Your Love,” “Heart Full of Soul,” "Shapes of Things, "“I’m A Man” and “Over Under Sideways Down.”

14th annual South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club "Day in Paradise"

Barton Foundation to award $40,000 in grants for Tahoe’s health and well-being

The Barton Foundation is giving $40,000 in grants to improve community health. Local non-profits, health organizations, schools, and public agencies are encouraged to apply for funding.

The Barton Health Grants provide funds for programs and organizations that positively impact the health of the South Tahoe community. In this grant cycle, projects and programs that address mental health, substance abuse, and access to healthcare services will be considered. These three issues were identified as the most pressing health needs in South Lake Tahoe’s 2015 Community Health Needs Assessment.

6th annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show

The sixth annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be held April 28-29, 2017 in the South Tahoe Middle School multipurpose room.

Space is being increased to allow more vendors from the region to participate in the only event of its type on the South Shore. A free children's planting area is also being added to the two day show that runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m on Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on Saturday.

Special Mother's Day train to Virginia City

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad will once again offer special train rides over the Mother's Day weekend, May 13-14, that will take moms and families from Carson City to Virginia City aboard a historic train.

All mothers will be honored with a long-stem rose as they board the 1953 ALCO (American Locomotive Company) heritage diesel locomotive for the 16 mile trip to the Comstock-era town of Virginia City.

The Who is added to Lake Tahoe music series at Harvey Outdoor Arena

The Who has just been announced as the latest act coming to South Lake Tahoe on August 16 as part of the Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series at the Harveys Outdoor Arena.

Kristel Kimball of Harrah's Tahoe and Nick Breaux, the regional VP of Marketing for Harrah's Entertainment, broke the news with Howie Nave during Howie's Morning Rush radio show on KRLT-FM.

The English band, formed in 1964, is considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, selling over 100 million records worldwide and holding a reputation for their live shows and studio work.

National Pet Day celebrated in South Lake Tahoe

Burning Man, the popular annual festival of self-expression in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, takes place over Labor Day weekend, August 27 – September 4, 2017. Lenny Kravitz latest act added to Lake Tahoe Outdoor Concert Series

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - There are now eight nights of summer concerts scheduled for the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena. Lenny Kravitz is the latest to book and will head to the South Shore July 14 for an 8:00 p.m. show at the arena at Harveys. Pre-sale tickets go on sale March 22, general public sales March 24.

Kravitz will be one of two artists booked to perform on the outside stage during the annual American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament in South Lake Tahoe July 11-16, 2017. Third Eye Blind plays after the final round.

Iconic musician Paul Simon is bringing his U.S. Summer Tour to South Lake Tahoe on Sunday, June 25 as part of the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Concert Series at Harveys.

Tickets for An Evening With Paul Simon go on sale March 17 on Ticketmaster though VIP packages are available starting March 14. The show starts at 8:00 p.m.

Simon is the 7th evening of music already slated for the popular summer concert series.

Daffodil Hill opens for the season March 17; Coincides with Dandelion Days in Jackson

The annual announcement of spring's arrival in the Sierra Foothills is the blooming of over 300,000 daffodils covering the hills of Volcano, Calif.

The yellow and white covered flower farm, Daffodil Hill, is slated to open on Friday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. according to an announcement on their Facebook page. Snow has not only affected the upper elevations around Lake Tahoe, but also at the farm which lies at the 3,000 foot level. The daffodils were covered with snow during the Feb. 26 storm and owners had to hold off the opening date announcement.

Volunteers needed for science fairs around Lake Tahoe

The 12th annual North Lake Tahoe Science Expo and 2nd annual South Lake Tahoe Science Expo are coming up and they both need volunteers to help with the over 30 hands-on science activities for upper elementary students. This year's theme is Earth and Space Science. All the activities will be ready to go and volunteers will be trained for their station.

Don't worry, no science background is needed and you might even learn something new while teaching the local youth!

South Lake Tahoe Democrats to start meeting monthly

The list of artists booked for the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Concert Series at Harveys has expanded with the booking of Sammy Hagar and Slightly Stoopid, bringing the number of concert dates to six.

Hagar & The Circle featuring Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson start off the July holiday weekend with their July 2 concert in the arena. Tickets go on sale March 10.

Slightly Stoopid - Sounds Of Summer 2017 tour with Special Guests Iration, J Boog, The Movement makes a stop at he outdoor venue on Friday, August 4 starting at 5:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $37.50 each.

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. — The smash-hit musical Godspell hits the stage at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) this summer, and auditions are now slated for March 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Duke Theatre.

Performances of Gdspell take place June 16-25, 2017.

They are looking for actors of all ages and ethnic backgrounds for this award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) and book by John Michael Tebelak.

In society, we are inundated with advertisements and daily messages infused into our culture that justify alcohol as acceptable and normal. "Atomspheric River" drink created for season at Harrah's and Harveys

Rivers have flooded, the lake is filling and snow is covering the slopes because of the several atmospheric rivers to hit Lake Tahoe this winter. To celebrate the epic season, the Beverage Department team at Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe concocted a cocktail to honor and celebrate the winter.

The "Atmospheric River" drink "blends the frosty peaks of the Sierra Nevada with the stunning shades of blue found only at Lake Tahoe," said John Packer of Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe.

Rebelution and their Good Vibes Tour headed to Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series

The summer concert schedule in South Lake Tahoe is starting to fill up with the addition of another one at Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series at Harvey's outdoor arena.

“California Reggae” band Rebelution will return on Friday evening, June 30. The popuar band will be joined on their “Good Vibes” tour by Nahko and Medicine for the People; Collie Buddz; Hirie; and DJ Mackle.

Jack Johnson latest entertainer announced for Lake Tahoe outdoor arena at Harveys

And then there were three.

The third concert booked for the summer of 2017 for the Harvey's Lake Tahoe Outdoor Concert series has been announced. On July 28, singer-songwriter Jack Johnson will perform as part of his summer tour, bringing his popular blend of music to the South Shore. Presale ticket sales begin February 15 with public sales on February 17.

He joins Train with O.A.R. and Third Eye Blind as acts booked so far for the popular concert series.
