Daniel Scott Miller ~ 1966 - 2022

Daniel Scott Miller of South Lake Tahoe was born on October 16, 1966, and passed away at the age of 56 on October 23, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. Daniel passed away peacefully in his wife Sami Miller's arms and his mother Linda Curry, and his brother Steve Miller holding his hands. Family members that were also by his side included Ron & Gail Weibel, David Gerhardt, and his pride and joy Boxers Duke & Daisy.

Bobby Minghini ~ Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die

Robert (Bobby) Rucker Minghini was born in Snowshoe, West Virginia on June 24, 1986. He moved to South Lake Tahoe, California in 2004 to attend college and pursue his dream to become a professional snowboarder.

Bobby lived to ride. He was a long-time athlete on the ISTC and proudly represented his country as a member of the US Snowboarding Team. He co-founded and operated Tahoe Wakebusters with his brother, Jarod. He brightened everyone’s day with his winning smile and genuine love for people, especially children. Friends always joked that all we need is to “Rent-a-Bobby”.

Sherry Ann Fletcher ~ 1940 - 2022

Sherry Ann Fletcher died peacefully at her Carson City home after a courageous battle with Acute Leukemia on August 31, 2022. Born May 8, 1940, in Eugene, Oregon, she grew up in Portland with her family relocating to Hayward, California in Sherry’s senior year of high school.

Lisa Maloff, the Angel of Tahoe ~ 1929 - 2022

On the morning of Thursday, July 28, 2022, Lisa Maloff peacefully passed away at home with loved ones by her side, holding her hands. Known as “The Angel of Tahoe,” news quickly spread through town and the city of South
Lake Tahoe lowered flags to half-mast in her honor and bouquets of pink carnations appeared throughout the town in her memory.

Herman Marty ~ 1943 - 2022

Herman Marty passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022.

He was born on May 13, 1943, in the tiny mountain village of Alpthal, Switzerland. He emigrated to the United States in 1970 and found his life-long home in South Lake Tahoe until his passing.

As a carpenter, he built many homes in Lake Tahoe, including the one he lived in with his wife and two daughters. He also built homes in Carson City, San Francisco, and Oregon. Those who knew him will always remember his Swiss style of craftsmanship — everything had to be exact. He was the ultimate perfectionist.

Services set for Marietta (Mary) Couch

Marietta (Mary) Couch passed away on December 10th, 2021 after a tough year of losing her eldest son to cancer, and her husband to a series of serious health issues. She was a loving and proud mother who everyone looked up to.

If there was ever a kid in need of a good home-cooked meal, or support on and off the sports field, she was always there. You could always expect to see the sweetest, most loving smile on her face, and ready to crack a joke at any given moment.

Celebration of Life for Martin Hollay, a true Tahoe legend

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There will be a celebration of life for Martin Hollary on July 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1384 June Way, South Lake Tahoe. Hollay passed away earlier this year at the age of 101.

Join family and friends as they celebrate the true Tahoe legend. Parking will be at the lower lot at Heavenly Mountain Resort and a shuttle will be available for those that need transportion. June Way will be closed to traffic. Himmel Haus will be catering the event.

Thomas "Tom" Reid Meldahl ~ March 21, 1959 - June 11, 2022

Thomas "Tom" Reid Meldahl passed from this world on June 11, 2022, at the age of 63.

Born March 21, 1959, in Valparaiso, Ind. to Roger and Jacqueline Meldahl. Tom graduated from San Mateo High School in 1977, then graduated from CSU Chico with a BA in Business Administration in 1982. As a sergeant in the US Army, he spent time in Germany as a radio translator. He then moved to his beloved South Lake Tahoe in 1988, where he was a bartender at Harvey’s Resort and Casino for over 30 years.

Elwyn “El” Hug ~ January 27, 1936 – May 15, 2022

Please join family and friends in celebrating the life of Elwyn “El” Hug. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 11, at 3 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church, 2733 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe. Following the service, El will be remembered at a reception filled with what he loved most – friends, food, and fun (and probably a few stories!).

The reception will begin at approximately 4 p.m. at the family’s home at 3560 Ralph Drive.

David “Dave” Slater passed away on May 29, 2022 at the age of 57.

Robert "Rocky" Duarte ~ April 10, 1937 - May 25, 2022

Robert “Rocky” Duarte, age 85, passed away on May 25, 2022.

Rocky was born on April 10, 1937, to Antone and Dorothy Duarte, in San Francisco, California. Rocky and his three brothers and two sisters spent their childhood in Pescadero, California, where he met his future wife, Yvonne. He attended Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo. When he graduated from high school, Rocky spent several years working for Pacific Telephone Company.

Bob Cook ~ 11/22/48 - 12/31/21

Unexpectedly leaving this earthly planet on December 31, 2021, Bob Cook’s life was, and is, the definition of service to others. Born in Southern California on November 22, 1948, Bob moved to Zephyr Cove, Nev. in 1971 after serving honorably in the U.S. Army in the late 60s/early 70s during
the Vietnam War with the 82nd “Hell Cats” as a Door-Gunner for his brother Jeff, among other duties.

Bob earned a degree in Fire Science and worked for the Tahoe-Douglas Fire Department where he became a Firefighter/Bomb Squad Technician. Bob later worked for UPS until his retirement in 2002.

William “Billy” Roland Bradford ~ 1974 - 2022

It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of Badass, William “Billy” Roland Bradford, on April 15, 2022. Billy was born in Huntington Beach, Calif. on September 9, 1974, to Dianne Mills and John Bradford, Jr. Billy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, attended Long Beach City College, and moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1999, where he became a general contractor and took pride in the work he created through his craftsmanship around the area, over the years.

Gerald “Jerry” Johnson ~ 1935 - 2022

Gerald “Jerry” Johnson passed away peacefully in his home in South Lake Tahoe of natural causes on April 29, 2022, just before his 86th birthday. Jerry was born on May 1, 1935, in Glendale, Calif. to Albert and Francis Johnson. He had one younger sister, Cookie.

Barbara Ann (Bales) Morris ~ May 5, 1947 - April 1, 2022

Reunited with the love of her life, Ben, after succumbing to Sepsis/Septic Shock. Barbara was surrounded by her family, cheering her on at the end of her earthly race.

Barbara loved her family, making crafts, using imagination, teaching, and working with children. She was Grandma to so many “bonus” kids in her life, always cheering them on and freely giving out hugs and affection to anyone who needed it.

Kevin W Kinney ~ March 14, 1961 - May 4, 2022

Kevin W Kinney passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2022. Kevin was born and raised in Chico, Calif. He moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1987.

Kevin started a franchise in the carpet cleaning world and then decided to have his own company. Kinneys Carpet Care was formulated and has been a household name since the 1990s.

He loved fishing, camping, and restoring old cars. He always had a way of helping a friend when they really needed it. When he was introduced to his wife Diane he sent her a dozen red roses every month. He referred to their courtship as a “budding relationship”.

Garfield “Gar” Ware, 99, passed away peacefully at his home in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Richard Alvin DeLallo ~ 1935 - 2022

Beloved Husband, Daddy, Uncle, Nono, and friend to all, passed away on February 25, 2022. Born to Joseph and Aurelia DeLallo in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 29, 1935, Rich was the youngest of four siblings Louie, Joey, and Virginia. 

Gene Bellisario ~ 1938 - 2022

Eugene Arthur Bellisario was born in Modesto, Calif. on November 20, 1938, to Ned and Norma Bellisario. he died unexpectedly on February 18, 2022, at Renown Hospital in Reno, Nev. with his family by his side. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Bellisario, sons Scott and Brian, daughter-in-law Arnan Bains, his much-loved sister, Sharon Hossli, his 99-year-old mother-in-law, Lois Schuette, and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis Michael Purvance ~ May 18, 2002 - February 28, 2022

Dennis Michael Purvance was born Denis Hauks in Latvia on May 18, 2002. After spending his early years of life in an orphanage, he was adopted and loved by his family until his passing on February 28, 2022. Dennis charmed everyone who had the pleasure of being in his presence with his endearing smile and infectious laughter. He was always bothered by being the shortest of the group, but what he lacked in stature, he made up for in personality.

Christopher Andrew William Little ~ 1992 - 2022

Christopher Andrew William Little, 29, of South Lake Tahoe, born December 21, 1992, died January 25, 2022. He is the son of Duane and Tamara Wallace of South Lake Tahoe and Kevin Little of Tulare. He attended local schools and graduated from STHS in 2011. He was a member of the wrestling team and took the NIAA championship in 2007. Chris was an avid skier, snowboarder, rock climber, and fisherman. He was an electrician and had a dog grooming business called Pup Culture. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 8 and was baptized by his grandfather Rev. Paul Wallace in Lake Tahoe.

JoAnne Bottini ~ February 19, 1944 – December 1, 2021

JoAnne unexpectedly passed away on December 1, 2021, while knitting, one of her favorite pastimes.

She was born in San Francisco on February 19, 1944, to Robert and Dorothy Henderson. She grew up in Rialto, Calif., graduating from St. Bernadine’s High School in 1961. Thereafter, she attended San Bernardino Valley College. In 1965, she graduated from San Francisco State College earning her Teacher’s Credential. She began her teaching career in Santa Rosa, a profession she dearly loved and dedicated her life to.

Patricia Ann Clothier ~ 1960 - 2021

Patricia "Patti" Clothier was born on June 12, 1960, in Minot, North Dakota. After many years of living in Southern California, she moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1999 and enjoyed the mountain lifestyle with her husband, children, and an abundance of friends. Patti passed away peacefully from medical complications with her husband Steve at her bedside on December 6, 2021.

Stephen Richard Kyte ~ 1950 – 2021

Steve Kyte died peacefully, on November 24, 2021, in Palo Alto, California, at the home of his sister, from the effects of brain cancer (glioblastoma), surrounded by family and under the care of Mission Hospice. He was 71.

Steve was born on April 10, 1950, to Ruth Gardiner Kyte and Donald Kyte in Lynwood, California. He grew up in South Gate, a suburb of Los Angeles, where he attended State Street Elementary School, South Gate Junior High, and graduated from South Gate High School in 1968. He attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College where he studied electronics.

Celebration of Life for Wiley Tipton

There will be a Celebration of Life for Wiley Tipton on October 10, 2021. Wiley was born on February 5, 1950 and passed away in his sleep on October 13, 2020.

He had been suffering complications from a recent stroke.

Friends and family are invited to The Landing in South Lake Tahoe for the Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. Come share stories, love and laughter.

Wayne Oliver Couch ~ 1935 - 2021

Wayne Oliver Couch passed away on Wednesday, September 22 after a tough year of losing his son, and undergoing a series of health issues and operations. He was the family patriarch, where everyone looked to him for his wisdom and guidance; you could always expect a good story to go with what you needed, whether you asked for it or not.

Robert Christen ~ 7/4/1953 - 7/22/2021

A man of kindness and generosity with a powerful, fighting spirit, Robert Gregson Christen passed away on July 22, 2021.

Born on the Fourth of July in 1953 in San Francisco, CA, the whole country celebrated Bob’s birthday, and he loved it.

Bob graduated from Novato High School in 1971 prior to joining the Navy in 1972. He served as a Boiler Technician (BT) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (aka San Francisco’s Own). He spent time in Southeast Asia towards the end of the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of E-5 when honorably discharged in 1976.

Never Forget, Never Forgotten - Kaleb James Martin Curtzwiler 1/27/82 - 8/9/10

Kaleb James Martin Curtzwiler died August 9, 2010. He was 28.

Mr. Curtzwiler was born Jan. 27, 1982, at Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe. The 2000 South Tahoe High School graduate was an avid soccer player.

Although he did not ski competitively, it was a sport he participated in with his family and one that he excelled at.

Celebration of Life to be held for long-time South Lake Tahoe local Randall Brown

Randall "Randy" Brown, age 69, passed away in his South Lake Tahoe home on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Randall was born in Iowa, and was raised by his loving parents George and Verna. He graduated high school and, in 1974, he fell in love with South Lake Tahoe and was a resident for over 45 years.

He retired after a very successful career as a General Contractor building custom homes and owning his own business, RB Tile & Construction for over 30 years. He is survived by his twin daughters, Alexis and Ciara as well as his granddaughter, Gabriela.

Jerry "Jake" Hendrickson ~ 10/25/35 - 7/2/21

Gerald Frank Hendrickson went home to be with the Lord on Friday July 2, 2021. He was at his home in South Lake Tahoe with his beloved nephew and care giver, Bill Sendle and Bill's family by his side. Gerald was born in the Ellenville Hospital in Ellenville, New York on October 25, 1935, to Fred and Sarah (Coddington) Hendrickson and was the third of seven sons and two daughters born in his family.

In loving memory of Robert A. Warren

Robert Anthony Warren passed away unexpectedly in his South Lake Tahoe home on June 17, 2021. He was born on October 31, 1967 in Concord, Calif.

Robert was a member of the South Lake Tahoe community for more than 20 years where he was a loving father to his two daughters Serenity and Brittany. He is predeceased by his parents who he loved so dearly.

Robert was a personality you would not forget and has many friends all throughout the world that miss his outgoing spirit dearly.

El Dorado County announces passing of elected Surveyor Philip Mosbacher

El Dorado County officials today announced the unexpected passing of County
Surveyor, Philip Mosbacher.

“It is with the heaviest heart that I impart the news that our County’s Surveyor and friend, Phil Mosbacher, passed away unexpectedly at his home last Thursday,” said Board of Supervisor Chairman, John Hidahl. “Phil was a tireless public servant with deep roots in the community going back generations, who always approached whatever he did with a positive attitude. He will be deeply missed by all the people fortunate enough to call him a coworker and friend.”

Bill David Russell ~ August 25, 1930 – March 20, 2021

Early Saturday morning on the first day of Spring our father, Bill David Russell, went home to his heavenly father and joined the love of his live, Ann Amelia Russell, who proceeded him in death 21 years earlier. He is survived by his three sons and their wives (Alan / Nancy, Gary / Marja and Steve / Donna), 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Bill was born to Harry and Katie (Hornbeck) Russell on Aug. 25, 1930 in Klamath Falls, OR. He was the youngest child in a family of 10 children (with 3 sets of twins).

Kyle Mazzoni ~ May 4, 1990 - May 2, 2021

On Sunday, May 2, two days before what would have been his 31st birthday, beloved son and brother, Kyle Mazzoni, passed from this Earth to Heaven. Kyle is survived by his parents Darla and Tim Mazzoni, his brother Korey, his furry brother Max, and his Grandma Rosemary DePompa. He also was blessed with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Thildy Kaelin ~ March 30, 1933 to April 29, 2021

Our Muetti (Mommy) passed away peacefully on April 29, 2021. Anyone that knew her will understand that she gave a good fight to the very end.

She and her husband immigrated to the United States from Switzerland in 1957. After a very brief time in Tracy, CA they both discovered Lake Tahoe in 1959, bought a tiny motel that they soon completely rebuilt, and over the next 25 years fulfilled their American Dream. The Matterhorn Motel was our home, our fun, our family’s fondest memories. Relationships were created that are still in place today.

Flags to fly at half-staff for former South Lake Tahoe Police Chief and El Dorado County Supervisor Dave Solaro

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Once called the "cornerstone" of South Lake Tahoe, Dave Solaro left his mark on a community he represented for 36 years, first as a police officer, then through the ranks to the police chief, director of public safety, and El Dorado County supervisor.

Solaro passed away Tuesday in Hilton Head, South Carolina, his home since leaving South Lake Tahoe in 2005. He was 78.

Donald H. Kortes ~ Feb. 27. 1931 - March 24, 2021

Long-time teacher and community member Donald H. Kortes died March 24, 2021 at home in South Lake Tahoe surrounded by his family. His death was due to congestive heart failure and complications from surgery in October. He was 90 years old.

Teresa Diane Golden ~ 1944 - 2020

Teresa Diane Golden, known as Teri, passed away peacefully in her home on December 29, 2020. She was 76. Teri loved living in South Lake Tahoe. She was active in the Democratic Party, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless, Christmas Cheer, the Drugstore Project, helping hikers on the Pacific Rim Trail, the AARP tax preparation, and many other endeavors. Teri was also a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and The Women of the Moose. Her neighbors described her as a loving and generous person.

James Anthony Biller ~ 1941 - 2020

James Anthony Biller was born in Ventura, CA, July 10, 1951, to Jack and Marjorie Biller. Growing up in Ventura, he surfed, sailed, played water polo for the Ventura High Cougars, and was one of the best swimmers Ventura High had ever seen, getting his varsity letter and pin as a sophomore and setting swimming records that stood for many years after he graduated in 1969. That Jim had a love of the beach, sailing, and everything that had to do with the water was obvious to everyone around him.

Longtime local Larry Lukins ~ 1944 - 2020

Larry Lukins passed away on November 25, 2020. He was born February 22, 1944 to Melvin and Hazel Lukins of South Lake Tahoe. Larry was the third generation of Lukins’ raised in South Lake Tahoe.

Larry was always proud of growing up in “old Tahoe” and loved to share stories of the good ole days. As a child growing up in South Lake Tahoe, Larry and his brother Danny spent much of their time working on and building airplanes, cars and boats.

Raul I. Aguilar ~ 1942 - 2020

Raul I. Aguilar was one of 10 children, born on April 17, 1942 in Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico and passed away on December 19th, 2020 in South Lake Tahoe, California. In his 20's, Raul worked as a radio disc jockey and enjoyed playing and winning in chess tournaments.

Raul moved to South Lake Tahoe in the early 1970's where he later got married and had three children. Raul always worked in the service industry as a banquet server and enjoyed meeting people and catering all sorts of events along the way.

Del Laine ~ March 20, 1930 - December 18, 2020

Del Laine has left her mark on South Lake Tahoe in ways that many local residents might not know. She was a mover and shaker, whose focus was on making the city a better place. Her most important role, though, was promoting the well-being of women.

This pioneer died Dec. 18, 2020, at home from natural causes, with family at her side. She was 90.

She was born Dolores Mae Wright on March 20, 1930, in Oakland, Calif., to Mabel Paulson and Leslie Wright.
