Jesus Christ Superstar at the LTCC Duke Theatre

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - One of the original rock operas, Jesus Christ Superstar, will hit the stage at Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theater October 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 at 7:30 p.m. and October 28 at 2:00 p.m.

Music is by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, two of the musical powerhouses. Jesus Christ Superstar is not clean and precise, it is raw, passionate and is true 70s rock. The story is specific but also universal, exploring the conflicts within power and truth. This production will take the last days of Jesus and move them out of place and time, while focusing on the relationships and the human struggle.

Sponsored by Lake Tahoe Community College and the Tahoe Arts Alliance, the production features talented local actors and musicians. It is directed by David Hamilton with music direction by Mark D. Williams.

Come see the show which has been a global phenomenon, wowing audiences for over 40 years. Conceived as a concept album in 1971, it has been performed in nearly 20 countries and translated into 18 different languages with 2000 and 2012 Broadway revivals each earning a Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Musical.
