Amador County murder suspect arrested after 12-hour search in Incline Village

1:15 p.m. UPDATE: Sean Purdy has been arrested. WCSO deputies just arrested Amador County fugitive Sean Purdy. Washoe County Sheriff Balaam expressed his deep appreciation to all the deputies and investigators from multiple agencies who have tenaciously worked for the safety of the community during the past 12 hours. He was arrested in the Memorial Point area just north of Sand Harbor near Incline Village. Details of the arrest are coming.

Purdy will face Washoe County charges of resisting and evading first. It is unknown at this time when Amador County will be able to take him for their case.

11:30 a.m. UPDATE: The suspect who is the subject of a large scale search in the Incline Village area of Lake Tahoe is wanted for questioning in the suspected murder of his 52-year-old father.

On January 1, around 4:37 p.m., deputies from the Amador County Sheriff's Office received a call from a woman who was concerned for her husband's welfare according to a press release from their office.

The caller said her husband, Lance Purdy of Pine Grove, had flown home to check on their 20-year-old son Sean Patrick Purdy as the couple had been out of state. When she didn't hear from her husband she called the sheriff's office. A neighbor said they saw the son leaving the family home quickly in a 2017 blue Subaru Outback. A large amount of blood in and around the residence at 12495 Kevkie Court was discovered by the same neighbor.

Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the home and discovered what appeared to be a homicide scene but there was no sign of Lance. An arrest warrant was issued for Sean Purdy for murder with an order to stop and detain the Subaru.

All neighboring law enforcement offices were notified and at 1:18 a.m. Thursday, Washoe County deputies spotted Sean at the 7-11 in Incline Village. Purdy fled on foot as deputies attempted to apprehend him. The search for Purdy by Washoe County is on-going. Detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office have responded and recovered the Subaru. It has been towed from the convenience store.

There has been no sign of Sean Purdy since he ran from deputies. Checkpoints have been lifted In Incline Village but deputies are working on leads and still conducting a search.

At this time, detectives are currently searching for the whereabouts of Lance Purdy. Anyone with information is asked to call the Amador County Sheriff’s Office at 209-223-6500.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) and other agencies are combing Incline Village on the north side of Lake Tahoe this morning, searching for a man wanted in connection with an Amador County homicide.

After midnight Thursday, January 2, the vehicle of 20-year-old Sean Purdy was spotted at the 7-11 at the corner of Tahoe and Village Boulevards. When WCSO deputies tried to stop him, Purdy ran away, leaving his vehicle behind.

The RAVEN helicopter is currently assisting and searching the area from above. Checkpoints are in place on roads.

Purdy is being described as having blond hair, 6', 200 lb., wearing a black jacket.

Residents in the area are asked to be alert, report suspicious activity to 911.

Also assisting WCSO are its K9s, RAVEN, NHP and Placer County Sheriff.
