Amada Soriano Masellones 1935-2014

Amada Soriano Masellones, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loving family on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2014 following a long illness.

Amada was born June 9, 1935, in Calape, Bohol, Philippines to Jorge and Macra Soriano. She attended and graduated from Silos Vocational School of Dressmaking in the Philippines on February 14, 1953.

Amada married the one and only love of her life, Mateo M. Masellones Sr., on Feburary 3, 1963 and thereafter traveled to the United States of America. They first lived in Stockton, California where they raised their three children and then later relocated and established their home in South Lake Tahoe, California. She utilized her dressmaking skills and worked as a seamstress at a couple of local casino resorts in South Lake Tahoe and spent over 40 years specializing her craft. After a well-deserved retirement, her seamstress skills were still in demand and she built a small clientele doing alterations and creating dresses at home. She often vacationed to her country of origin where she built a vacation home.

Amada shared her loving spirit with all and always placed others’ needs before her own. She will be especially remembered for her culinary and hospitality skills. She made sure that anyone who came to visit her home would not leave hungry. She was well-known for making sure they were well-fed whether it was with her crispy fried chicken or lumpia and pansit or her tasty Filipino pastry, “Tortas”.

Amada was preceded in death by her husband, Mateo Sr in 1983. She is survived by her three children, Daniel Masellones, Drusilla (David) Cunningham and Mateo Masellones Jr.; grandson, Chase Cunningham, and many loving relatives in the United States and in the Philippines.
