Forest Service temporarily reduces Incline Village office hours

New hours are in the mix, at least temporarily, for the Incline Village office of the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. Beginning Jan. 11, the office at 855 Alder Ave., will be open Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The change is a reduction of about two hours each day and is only temporary, said Lisa Herron, Forest Service spokeswoman. It is not a result of funding cuts but changes to staffing.
The Incline Village office issues wilderness permits for Desolation Wilderness, as well as national recreation passes, including the Access, Senior and Annual Interagency passes. It also sells maps and offers hiking, biking, backpacking, off-highway vehicle and other recreation information for the Lake Tahoe Basin.
