COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 68 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 18 are in El Dorado Hills, 15 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 10 in Greater Placerville, 3 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 11 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 7 in North County, 1 in South County, 0 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 3 - Total now awaiting address confirmation: 92.

Of those new cases, 6 are under the age of 18, 33 are age 18-49, 15 are aged 50-64, and 13 aged 65 or older. Total date of birthdate unknown: 9

There have been another 192 assumed recoveries with 1,699 assumed active cases.

.There have been an additional 444 negative results received. Negative test disclaimer: Whereas laboratory-confirmed case numbers reflect only El Dorado County residents, negative results may also include some non-El Dorado County residents whose tests were performed within the county. Total negative results include results for individuals who have been tested more than once. This differs from the count of total confirmed cases, as individuals who test positive on multiple occasions are only counted as a single case. For this reason, these two numbers (total confirmed cases and total negative test results) are not comparable and should not be used together to calculate a positivity rate. Only PCR or NAAT tests (tests that detect viral RNA) are included in this estimate of "Total Negative Test Results". Antigen tests and antibody (serology) tests are not included in this estimate.

There are currently 37 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 11 of them in the ICU at Barton and Marshall. According to the State's website, 5 of the non-ICU patients and 2 of the ICU patients are in Barton, with 32/9 at Marshall. There are no suspected cases at either hospital. Also according to the State website, Barton has 3 available ICU beds, Marshall 2, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity depending on staff and other variables. El Dorado County is part of the Sacramento Region. As a region there is 9.4 percent ICU bed availability. The four-week projection of availability has met the criteria to exit the latest stay-at-home order.

There have been twos additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents dying from COVID-19 is 41:
- 65+; Female from Greater Placerville
- 65+; Male from Greater Placerville

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and was under a Stay-at-Home order from December 10 to January 12. To move from purple down to red, or "substantial," the daily new cases need to be 4-7 per 100,000 and the county needs a 5 percent to 8 percent positive test rate. In that range, schools can open for in-person learning after being in red tier for 14 days.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified abou.t the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 14.9 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 860 (-1).

In Douglas County there are currently 4 (-2) people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 0 (+0) of them in the ICU along with 4 suspected cases. 0% of ICU beds are occupied.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 379 new COVID-19 cases and 20 new deaths in Washoe County since Tuesday.

There have been 215 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 126 (+2) are in Tahoe City, 273 (+4) in Kings Beach, 48 (+2) in Olympic Valley, 64 (+1) in Truckee, 42 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 13.0 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 46.6 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 5.7 percent, 14-day increase is 16.3 percent.
