The South Tahoe Vikings varsity basketball team won Saturday's conference game against Churchill County by a score of 71-67. As has been the case this season, South Tahoe came charging out with strong play on both sides of the court. The 3rd quarter box score had Churchill outscoring South Tahoe 12-8 but the Vikings rebounded with a 19-15 4th quarter.
Dakota Baca led the team with 19 points. The 6'4" senior was named Player of the Game. "Mr. Baca has definitely set the bar for working hard. When Dacoda steps on to the court it is all business. He has been unbelievable all season and has shown why he is a captain," according to the STHS coaching staff.
Junior Kirby David had 11 pts, Senior Jared Fajman followed with 10.
Next game for the Vikings is a January 24 road match-up with 1-7 Truckee. They will host the first place Elko team on January 31. Game time for both games is 7:30 pm.
