TODAY’S WEATHER: Expect Mostly Cloudy Skies with a Slight Chance of Rain & Snow. Snow Level 8000 feet. Highs: 40F-50F. (30F-40F on the Slopes). Southwest Winds 10-15mph. Ridge Gusts up to 50 mph.

TONIGHT: Partly Cloudy with a chance of Rain or Snow after midnight. Lows: 27 to 37F. Southwest winds 10-15 mph. Ridge gusts up to 60 mph after midnight.

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT:

* WHAT… Heavy snow possible, especially above 7000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches, except 8 to 18 inches above 7000 feet possible. Some localized areas could see amounts up to 2 feet along the Sierra Crest. Winds could gust as high as 8o mph over the ridges.

* WHERE… Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN… From Sunday morning through late Sunday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… Travel could be difficult at times. Strong winds could cause damage to snow laden trees.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Now is the time to prepare an emergency kit for your home and car. If traveling consider alternate plans, remember to carry tire chains, extra food, water and clothing. Once the storm arrives, travel may be difficult or impossible for an extended period of time.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell. Take warm gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. You might want to take along a face gaiter or scarf. Also wear good Sunglasses or Yellow or Rose tinted Goggles. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen (when the sun is out) & stay hydrated at altitude!

SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are primarily Machine Groomed & Skier-Rider Packed Powder, with some areas of Powder on newly opened runs… Watch for marked & unmarked obstacles.

SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Respect all rope lines & area closures.Ski or Ride with a Buddy if you decide to go Off Piste – Trees or opened trails. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.

MODERATE avalanche danger exists at all elevations due to lingering wind slab and deep slab avalanche problems. Large destructive slab avalanches remain possible in isolated areas. Small loose wet avalanches may occur today in steep terrain.
