City Council fills vacancies on several different South Lake Tahoe commissions

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Several community members stepped up this year and applied for the openings on various South Lake Tahoe commissions. During the Tuesday City Council meeting, the council members filled most vacancies.

The new Arts, Culture and Tourism Commission has yet to get officially started but due to terms outlined in the initial structure, two voting and one non-voting position were open. The Council reappointed Tony Lyle as the non-voting member, and Bryan Yerian and Scott Forrest for the two voting position openings. They will join current commissioners Eleanor Brennan, Stacey Ballard, and David Hamilton.

The Building Board of Appeals added one person, Frank Sylvester, to join current commissioner Keith Roberts. There is still one vacancy.

Police Advisory Commission is made of five members. Current members Claudia Anderson and Justin Zunino were reappointed to a new two-year term and join the other commissioners Tom Davis, Erika Gonzalez, and Ayana Morali.

The seven-member Parks and Recreation Commission: Both Jerry Bindel and David Gregorich were reappointed to their positions with new two-year terms. They are joined by Aricela Ramos for a two-year term, and Margie Kovarik-Maxhimer was selected to fill a vacancy until 2023. The commissioners whose terms expire in 2023 are Greg Bergner, Kira Smith, and Dan Thrift.

The Planning Commission had two open positions. Gavin Feiger returns with a new two-year term and will be joined by Keith Roberts. Current commissioners Douglas Williams, Kili Rahbek and Natalia Wieczorek have terms that go until 2023.

The other City commissions, Airport Land Use and Measure P Oversight had no openings and their members are in their positions until 2023.
