Lake Tahoe Tops Woman's List of Places to Visit Before Going Blind

What would you do if you were losing your eyesight? This question wasn't a hard one to answer for Monroe, Louisiana resident Leslie Hestle. Her answer? Go to Lake Tahoe!

Suffering from gyrate atrophy since birth, Hestle knew that her eyesight was going away. People with the disease are usually totally blind between the ages of 40-60. One year ago she had cataracts surgery, giving her eyesight for awhile longer but without peripheral vision.

She and husband Jason compiled of list of places to see and experience before blindness set in. Lake Tahoe topped the list which brought them to the south shore this week.

They have been very busy on the Tahoe Trip so far and still have a long list of things to do before their Friday departure. Snowmobiling in Hope Valley is their favorite experience, so far. "It was an amazing experience," said Leslie of the adventure. A boat ride on the lake and participating in "Pints & Paddles" were on the list today with dinner following at Friday's Station. Tomorrow is a sleigh ride, a ride up the Gondola and seeing Illusion Fusion. The Hestles have already enjoyed shopping around Heavenly Village and dinner at Riva Grill. They certainly are making the most of their five days in Lake Tahoe!

One thing they hadn't planned on doing while in Tahoe was being guests on the Getaway Tahoe and Charlie Simons & Jen radio shows on KTHO. Leslie had contacted Meghan Burk with Getaway Reno Tahoe to help her plan her dream trip to Lake Tahoe.

"The view takes my breath away," said Leslie. She is enjoying looking out at the lake from her room at Harrah's Tahoe. When asked where their next trip will be to, Leslie and Jason said "We wouldn't mind coming back to Lake Tahoe. We don't want this trip to end!"
