Monthly gaming report: Good January for Lake Tahoe casinos on south shore

STATELINE, Nev. - Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $1,038,196,869 for the month of January 2020. This amounts to a 5.48 percent increase compared to January 2019, when licensees reported a gaming win of $984,227,816 according to the monthly report released today by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Casinos on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe had a "win" of $20,160,104, up 17.93 percent from January 2019. In December 2019, the South Shore casinos also experienced an increase from the prior year, 8.10 percent.
The State collected $50,439,646 in percentage fees during the month of January 2020.
Casinos on the South Shore had the biggest gain in the state. Downtown Las Vegas, Wendover and non-Reno/Sparks/North Lake Tahoe casinos in Washoe County all posted double-digit gains.
The rest of Douglas County had a "win" of $8,657,563, a 1.85 percent decline.
North Lake's Tahoe "win" was $1,608,443, down 6.85 percent. The biggest decrease was on the Boulder Strip where their $71,854,302 was down 12.22 percent from the same month in 2019.
The State of Nevada collected $73,049,145 in percentage fees in February.
In the last 12 months, South Shore casinos have reported a win of $67,158,000 on table games, $161,501,000 on slot machines, $2,280,000 on football games and $1,519,000 on basketball games.
