TODAY’S WEATHER: Showers in the Morning, then Showers and a slight chance of Thunderstorms in the afternoon. Snow level 6500 feet. Snow accumulation up to 4” with 4-8” above 7000 feet. Highs: 36F-46G (24F-36F on the slopes). South Winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Ridge Gusts up to 95 mph.

TONIGHT: Showers and slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then snow showers likely after midnight. Snow level 6500 feet lowering to lake level. Snow accumulation up to 3 inches with 1 to 4 inches above 7000 feet. Lows: 23F to 28F. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Ridge gusts up to 90 mph decreasing to 70 mph after midnight.

* CHANGES… Changed to “additional” snow amounts as of 4 AM Wednesday.

* WHAT… Snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of 12 to 18, with locally higher amounts possible. 4 to 8 inches below 7000 feet with zero to 5 inches at lake level. Winds gusting up to 45 mph with 100 mph across ridgetops.

* WHERE… Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN… From 10 PM Tuesday to noon PST Thursday. Peak snowfall expected this morning through midday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell. Take good gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. Also wear Good Goggles (Yellow/Bronze/Rose) or Sunglasses (100% UV protection). Don’t forget to use sunscreen if the sun pops out and stay hydrated at altitude!

SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are primarily Fresh Wet Snow & Powder over Machine Groomed & Skier-Rider Tracked & Packed Snow.

SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Respect all rope lines & area closures.Ski or Ride with a Buddy if you decide to go Off Piste – Trees or opened trails. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Stay away from Tree Wells… Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.
