The Landing in South Lake Tahoe sold to Maryland based hospitality company

The Landing in South Lake Tahoe has been sold to DiamondRock Hospitality Company, a real estate investment trust that owns 28 other premium hotels and resorts gateway cities and destination resorts throughout North America and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

This purchase now gives DiamondRock four resorts in California including the Hotel Rex in San Francisco and the Westin San Diego. The Landing will be added to their portfolio which also includes L'Auberge de Sedona in Arizona, Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa and several other Marriott and Westin properties.

Jim Demetriades and his wife Nancy recreated the former Royal Valhalla Lodge with a major remodel. They celebrated with a grand opening January 25-26, 2014 with a star studded event that included model and television personality Heidi Klum and singer Babyface Edmonds.

“DiamondRock’s interest in and purchase of The Landing is indicative of the resort’s incredible quality and the unique vision and stewardship of the seller,” said Scott Hall of HFF, the real estate investment company who represented the seller.

“As a result of Lake Tahoe’s exceptionally high barriers-to-entry, true year-round demand drivers and long-term fundamentals, lakeside hotel investment opportunities appeal to multiple profiles of capital and are in high demand,” said Tony Malk of HFF.

The Landing has 77 rooms and is located on the lake at 4104 Lakeshore Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe.
