A look at the roads around Lake Tahoe for Saturday

Road controls are still up on Lake Tahoe roads as the two day storm that dropped 45" of snow at Heavenly moves to the east. There is a chance of scattered snow showers in South Lake Tahoe with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 31. Winds will be from the southwest 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible. Tonight, isolated snow showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 8. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Sunny and 36 on Sunday!

Highway 50 from Meyers to Kyburz - R2 - Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. (Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas).

Highway 50 in Nevada from Stateline to Carson City - R1 - Chains or Snow Tires Required

Interstate 80 - R2 from Alta to CA/NV state line - Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. (Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas). Trucks are currently being held at the state line due to issues at Donner Pass.

State Route 89 at Emerald Bay is closed from Bliss State Park to Ebrights

State Route 89 over Luther Pass to Hope Valley - R2 - Chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/ all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. (Four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles must carry traction devices in chain control areas).

State Route 89 from Tahoe City to Truckee - R1 - Chains are required on all vehicles except passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks under 6,000 pounds gross weight and equipped with snow tires on at least two drive wheels. Chains must be carried by vehicles using snow tires. All vehicles towing trailers must have chains on one drive axle. Trailers with brakes must have chains on at least one axle.

State Route 88 - R2 - Chains Required, All Vehicles Except 4-Wheel Drive with Snow Tires except for Carson Pass and Carson Spur are closed due to Heavy Snow No Estimated Time of Opening
