Commissioner Gary Slossberg announces run for El Dorado County judge

Superior Court Commissioner Gary Slossberg announced today that he is seeking an open seat for El Dorado County Superior Court Judge in the upcoming election on June 7, 2022.

Appointed as a Superior Court Commissioner on November 9, 2020, Commissioner Slossberg handles many of the same duties and responsibilities of a Judge. He has heard nearly every case type as a judicial officer and currently is assigned to hear child support, restraining order, traffic and infractions, small claims, probate, conservatorship, guardianship, juvenile delinquency, and juvenile dependency cases (i.e., cases involving child protective services).

Commissioner Slossberg previously served as the Family Law Facilitator and Self-Help Attorney for the El Dorado County Superior Court and as the Attorney for Live Violence Free in South Lake Tahoe. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Slossberg was voted by his law school classmates as the winner of the Gary Bellow Public Service Award in 2003. He also was a recipient of an Award of Merit from the California Commission on Access to Justice and Legal Aid Association of California in 2015.

Commissioner Slossberg is endorsed by all current El Dorado County Superior Court Judges as well as former Presiding Judge Suzanne N. Kingsbury, who said, “Gary handles some of the most difficult and emotionally charged cases on our court’s calendars. He treats all those who appear before him with dignity and respect, but never shies away from making tough decisions. His keen intellect and strong work ethic are unparalleled.”

On Saturday, April 2 at 11 a.m., Commissioner Slossberg officially will start campaign activities with a Campaign Kickoff at Joe’s Coffee & Deli in Cameron Park. For more information about the campaign, visit www.slossbergforjudge.com.
