SISLT is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women and youth throughout our region and is managed 100 percent by volunteers. In 1921 women were not permitted to join all-male community groups, so a group of women in Oakland, California formed an organization to help women and children. They called it Soroptimist (meaning Best for Women). Since then, the organization has grown to about 1,300 clubs in 21 countries throughout the world. They meet Wednesdays at noon.
