Public asked for input on Tahoe El Dorado Area Plan; Workings coming in June

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The Tahoe El Dorado Area Plan (TED) is being created for all unincorporated areas of El Dorado County in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is developing new land use standards to enhance affordable housing, and implementation of those standards could vary between those areas with adopted area plans, and those without.

There are currently several different plans in the Lake Tahoe Basin, with the Meyers Area Plan the only one outside the South Lake Tahoe City Limits in the county portion of the Basin.

TED is being created to ensure consistency between the County’s Zoning Ordinance and TRPA’s Plan Area Statements, simplify permitting and streamline environmental review, allow the County to control land use policies and decisions based on each community’s needs, and incorporate TRPA Code and State law updates – ultimately, establishing a better framework to advance housing and economic development.

The County will be holding workings on TED this June, but in the meantime, they are asking for the public to share their ideas about your community by clicking here.

Phase 2 is a future phase that will include developing the draft document plan, holding additional community workshops, and making revisions to the draft plan.

Phase 3 is a future phase that will include the public comment period for the draft plan with public hearings for possible adoption of the plan.

The County hopes to complete Phase 3 by the end of the year.
