Mobile Food Pantry to Distribute Food in South Lake Tahoe on April 23rd

Event Date:
April 23, 2014 - 10:00am

The El Dorado County Food Bank will be in South Lake Tahoe to distribute emergency supplemental groceries to those who need it most on Wednesday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The mobile pantry will be in the parking lot of the American Legion Hall at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd to help struggling families make ends meet. There will be one allocation per household.

The Food Bank of El Dorado County built its mobile food pantry in 2012 to reach the most rural areas of El Dorado County. Each week the Food Bank travels to a different city within the county distributing enough food for up to 150 families. Food Bank Founder Mike Sproull says “Our mobile food pantry is an effective vehicle for assisting El Dorado County’s most at-risk population in areas that may have limited transportation and resources.”

Thanks to community sponsors like American Century Championship Contribution Committee who donated $2,500 to the Food Bank for its impact to the South Shore community, the Food Bank’s mobile food pantry continues to support the South Lake Tahoe community. Food Bank Communications & Development Director Carey Fong says “sponsorships like these are a great way for organizations to give back to their community while providing an opportunity for volunteerism.”

If your organization or business is interested in sponsoring a mobile food pantry distribution please contact the Food Bank’s Communications & Development Director Carey Fong.

Come rain or shine, the Food Bank will be in South Lake Tahoe from 10-11am at the American Legion Hall distributing groceries.
