Harrison Avenue Project Starts in South Lake Tahoe

One Way and Do Not Enter signs are now in place in the Harrison Avenue Project area of South Lake Tahoe. Construction is slated to start May 1 but preparation started a few days ago in order to get traffic flowing correctly and to put in parking spots. Crews will also be removing trees for the new parking lot located on the corner across from Sno-Flake Drive-In.

Traffic on Harrison Avenue now flows the same direction as the closest lane of Highway 50 (Lakeview Commons to Al Tahoe Blvd). Traffic will flow the opposite direction on Riverside Drive.

It may take some getting familiar with the new traffic flow, but it is all for a much improved Harrison Avenue with a more walker and bike friendly area of South Lake Tahoe. There will be an informational meeting on April 24 at the Senior Center at 6 p.m.

The project area includes Harrison Avenue and Riverside Avenue along with Modesto Avenue, San Francisco Avenue, Tallac Avenue, Alameda Avenue and San Jose Avenue (between Harrison Avenue and Riverside Avenue).
