South Lake Tahoe woman admits she lied about kidnapping, robbery after gambling away her paycheck

A 42-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman admitted to Douglas County authorities Tuesday that she lied about being robbed and kidnapped to hide from her spouse that she had gambled away her entire paycheck.

Douglas County authorities were called to Zephyr Cove Lodge at around 8:05 a.m. after an employee observed banging coming from the trunk of a Mercedes Benz, authorities said. The employee let the woman out of the vehicle. The woman old authorities that she had been gambling at a casino and left with $1,500. She claimed she was struck over the head and woke up in the car truck and her money missing.

During the course of the investigation, the woman admitted she had lied to authorities. No charges have been filed at this time.
