South Lake Tahoe celebrates Earth Day at Bijou Community Park

The South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Festival will kick off Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bijou Community Park.

Earth Day recognizes, celebrates and promotes our region’s unique beauty while educating the public about local environmental issues.

Bring your friends and family to learn about ways to counteract global climate change through recycling and composting, alternative energy, water conservation, sustainability, and reducing our ecological footprint.

Enjoy local live music and dance, swing through the Kid Zone to make some recycle-themed arts and crafts, or get your face painted, and be sure to support or wide array of educational booths and local vendors. Food and local crafts will be available for purchase, as well as raffle tickets for a large Earth Day raffle.

Live music and stage performances will feature Lake Tahoe DJ Ryan Palmer, the band Lonesome Locomotive and Willy Woggle Circus.

The Tahoe Earth Day Foundation, a non-profit organization, formed to educate the general public regarding the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region’s unique beauty and how to preserve and protect it.
