COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe and surrounding counties

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Since Friday, one new person has tested positive for COVID-19, this time a Lake Tahoe area man in the 18-49 age group, bringing the total of people who have tested positive in El Dorado County to 43. Two hundred additional tests have been issued in El Dorado County.

One more person has recovered, leaving five active cases of COVID-19.

Fifteen in the Lake Tahoe region of the county have tested positive. This region includes South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Kyburz, and Tahoma.

Washoe County

There has been an increase of 65 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County since Friday and three more deaths.

The county is breaking down cases by zip code, and Incline Village, with a population of 8,800, has 19 cases, or 2.2 per 1,000 people, and Crystal Bay has one. Both of these areas remained the same Thursday. Southeast Reno's 46,907 residents have 130 cases or 2.8 cases per 1,000.

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Quad-County Emergency Operations Center (Quad EOC) is reporting nine new positive cases of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region over the weekend. This brings the total number of cases to 84, with 31 recoveries and one death, 52 cases remain active.

There are three Quad-County residents currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

They are currently scheduling testing appointments for Quad-County residents who are not experiencing symptoms of COVDID-19. Individuals without symptoms who want to be tested for COVID-19 can call (775) 434-1450 to schedule an appointment. The tests are free to Quad-County residents, no insurance information will be collected. Testing will be available in all four counties; exact locations will be given to the individual when the appointment is scheduled.

The test detects if the virus in a person’s system at the time of testing, it does not detect antibodies. To be tested, an individual must live in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, or Storey counties, have a scheduled appointment, and be free of COVID-19 symptoms. Conducting community-based testing on individuals without symptoms allows CCHHS to provide the needed data to decision-makers.

Placer County

There were four new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County over the weekend.

There have only been updates to the county's testing figures. The two positive case numbers have not risen in a few weeks.
