Suspect arrested after leading law enforcement on chase in Nevada with stolen car

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The driver of a stolen Audi has been arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase from Carson City to Minden along US395.

On May 1, at 11:45 a.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) located a red Audi two-door vehicle stolen out of California and attempted to pull it over. The driver failed to stop and led CCSO on a chase into Douglas County.

They requested assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) who then took over the pursuit.

The driver of the Audi was driving recklessly as he was chased south on US395 before turning onto dirt at Johnson Lane where he turned east. The driver of the stolen car attempted to strike DCSO Patrol units with his vehicle as the chase turned west on Johnson.

Due to the continued extreme reckless driving and assault with a deadly weapon by motor vehicle, DCSO used a motor vehicle intervention technique and stopped the Audi at the intersection of Johnson Lane and Highway 395 resulting in the damage of two DCSO vehicles.

No law enforcement officers were harmed.

The suspect, later identified as Fabian Campos was taken into custody and after a medical clearance at the hospital, booked into the Douglas County Jail.

At first, law enforcement thought the Audi may have been the one in question involved in a deadly rollover on the Mt. Rose Highway Thursday evening, but it was not when that vehicle turned out to be a Dodge Viper.
