'Something in the Wind' kite festival at Dangberg Ranch

Kites will take to the skies above historic Dangberg Ranch over the weekend of May 16-17 during the "Something in the Wind" festival. Expert kite flyers, kite making and other children's crafts, as well as wind artists will be featured.

This is a celebration of the Washoe Zephyr, the seasonal diurnal winds that are in Western Nevada.

There will be eight expert kite flyers from the Rogue Valley Windchasers Kite Club from Brookings, OR at the two day event along with Balloon Nevada with their hot air balloons on display.

Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17
All Day: Bring and fly your own kite
8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.: Artists Marketplace
8:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m.: Hot Air Balloon display
10:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.: Kites and Flying presentation
10:30 a.m.- Noon: Kite Flying demonstration by the Rogue Valley Windchasers
10:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.: Kite Making and Other Children's Crafts
2:00 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.: Kites and Flying presentation
2:30 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.: Kite Flying demonstration by the Rogue Valley Windchasers
2:30 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.: Kite Making and Other Children's Crafts

Saturday, May 16
1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m.: Laurie Harden of SoaringNV speaking on the sport and art of gliding.

Sunday May 17
5:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.: Zephyrus Brass Quintet in concert

This is a FREE event and perfect for families. Bring a picnic, a lawn chair and enjoy the park. Please, certified service animals only--DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED in the park.

All children's crafts supplies will be supplied. Bad weather, of course, might force us to cancel this event.
