23rd Annual America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride on Sunday

America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride isn't your normal Sunday bike ride unless you normally ride around Lake Tahoe with 3,000 of your friends. The annual bike ride has been bringing riders to Lake Tahoe annually for the past 22 years.

This year's 23rd Annual event is on Sunday, June 1. With the temporary closure of the Horizon for remodeling, the staging for the ride has moved across the street to the MontBleu.

The early morning start time takes riders clockwise around the lake. The route remains open to vehicles except for Hwy 89 North through Camp Richardson from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Watch for riders if you plan on driving around the lake on Sunday.

For the recreational bicyclist who would like to mix sightseeing and bicycling, the Boat Cruise & 35-mile Lake Tahoe Half Ride Fun Tour is offered.

The ride starts on Sunday at 6:45 a.m. with a short 1-mile ride to Ski Run Marina where rider board the Tahoe Queen with their bikes for a scenic boat cruise to North Lake Tahoe. From there, they'll join the ride course for the remaining 35-mile ride back to Montbleu. It comes with continental breakfast onboard & t-shirt, lunch on the course, rest stops and more. This Fun Boat Cruise is also open to friends and family members who would like to accompany participants across the Lake and return to Ski Run Marina.

The ride is sponsored by South Lake Tahoe's "Bike the West" run by Curtis Fong.

The event is a fundraiser for local groups as well as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where almost 20,000 riders over the past 14 years have raised over $65.8 Million.
