There will be a free tennis clinic for all local children at the Zephyr Cove Tennis Club on Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15. The event is being sponsored by the Douglas County Parks and Recreation, Coyote Grill and the tennis club.

The clinic is open to all Lake Tahoe basin kids ages 8 and older.

Children may participate one or both days. Veteran instructors Rob Wheatley and Hersh Herschman will lead youngsters through a variety of drills that are designed to introduce them to the sport as well as refine skills of those who are more experienced. There will be a limited number of rackets available for those who need one.

Come dressed to play – which means athletic wear and non-marking shoes. Be sure to bring water and wear sunscreen. The tennis clinic is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time. Pizza will be delivered courtesy of Coyote Grill in Round Hill and the Northern California section of the U.S. Tennis Association will provide goodies for each participant.

Space is limited and preregistration is required. Call the Kahle Community Center at (775) 586-7271 or Douglas County Community Services at (775) 782-9828 to register or for more information. Zephyr Cove Tennis Club has six courts nestled in the woods overlooking Lake Tahoe. Lessons for all ages, membership, social mixers and open play all are available.
