The search has been suspended for a man who was reported missing near Lester Beach, north of Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe on Thursday.
On June 8 at 9:15 a.m., Pham Dan Vu Thanh (who goes by Dan), called a friend to tell him he was going kayaking and camping in the Lester Beach area. As of 6:15 p.m. that evening there had been no word from Dan.
El Dorado County Sheriff's Office began an initial investigation and started search efforts which they conducted until midnight. At 6:00 a.m. Friday, they resumed the search along with resources from U.S. Coast Guard, California State Parks and other Lake Tahoe marine agencies.
Search efforts were suspended Friday due to declining weather conditions. A wind advisory is in effect with gusts up to 45 mph and waves 1-3 feet forecast. There has also been intermittent rain all day.
Searchers were able to complete a search of the most probable locations prior to suspension. A limited and continuous search will continue in an effort to locate the missing kayaker.

forest green kayak, 10 feet long. It is unknown what type of backpack or life jacket Thanh may have.
