Woman dead, child stabbed in El Dorado County; Search on for suspect

6/14 update 4:00 p.m. - The victim from yesterday’s homicide has been identified as 49-year-old Silvia Castillo of Placerville. The four year old girl who was stabbed multiple times had emergency surgery and is expected to survive.

El Dorado County Sheriff's are asking for the public's help is locating a person of interest in the death of a woman and the stabbing of a child in Placerville.

On Tuesday, June 13 at 5:15 p.m., deputies were alerted to a reported stabbing and responded to the 3000 block of Newtown Road in Placerville. Upon arrival deputies found an adult woman deceased inside. They also located a child inside with multiple stab wounds. The child was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

EDSO is currently looking for a 2002 white Ford Explorer, California license plate 4XTF911 that is possibly connected to the homicide.

Bernardo Castillo, 24, is wanted for questioning. He is described as a Hispanic male, black hair, brown eyes, approximately 6’0″,190 lbs.
