Fatal collision on Highway 50 near Round Hill; One arrested for suspected impairment

UPDATE 9:50AM - There is one confirmed fatality and one arrest for impairment in the early morning two-vehicle collision on Highway 50 near Round Hill Thursday.

While the investigation is still preliminary, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah DeGoey said it appears the driver of a vehicle towing a trailer was the person killed and the driver of the other vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of impairment.

The name, age and hometown of the deceased is being held pending notification of next of kin. The identity of the person arrested has not been released at this time.

DeGoey said they hope to have the roadway open by 11:00 a.m. She said more information will be released once the investigation is completed.

UPDATE 8:00AM - Nevada Highway Patrol has confirmed one fatality in the crash and they have sent their fatal crash team to Round Hill. The road is closed in the area.

ROUND HILL, Nev. - There are very few details at this moment, but those using Highway 50 near Round Hill need to use caution this morning due to an accident.

Emergency crews are on the scene. Traffic is backed up and moving slowly on the shoulder of the road.

A vehicle crossed the center double line and collided with another.
