South Lake Tahoe daycare staff member arrested on child sexual assault charges

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After an investigation into an allegation of ongoing child sexual assault at a South Lake Tahoe daycare center, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) have arrested the father of the operator of Pequeños Rascals Daycare.

On June 15, SLTPD first received information about the possible assault occurring at the center located at 3336 Sandy Way. Multiple victims came forward and reported a pattern of abuse dating back at least two years.

The investigation revealed probable cause and on June 20, an arrest warrant was obtained and they arrested the suspect, 55-year-old David Rodriguez-Flores, Sr. He is one of the licensees of the facility.

As of 7:00 p.m. June 20, the suspect was arrested but still in the interview room and not yet in the El Dorado County jail. He is facing a felony charge of lewd and lascivious act on a minor which comes with a bail of $500,000.

According to SLTPD Lt. Shannon Laney, this is an ongoing investigation and a photo will not be released at this time.

The California Department of Social Services’ Community Care Licensing Division is the State agency with oversight of licensed child facilities. They are working with the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and have lso opened an investigation into this matter as well.

When South Tahoe Now visited the center soon after opening in March, 2017, the operators Leisa Rodriguez Contreras and her husband Ivan Contreras said it was a family effort to care for all of the kids that visited them on a daily basis, ages infant to age 13. She said her parents and grandparents, as well as her brother all helped out.
