Two Lake Tahoe attorneys commemorate 50 years of law practice

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Long-time attorneys Robert M. Henderson and Michael P. Hambsch each celebrated their 50th anniversary of admission to the Bar and practicing law. A celebration was held on June 20, 2024, for the two attorneys, who both practice with local law firm Rollston, Henderson &
Johnson, Ltd., to commemorate that each of them was admitted to the Bar on nearly the same date in June 1974.

Robert "Bob" M. Henderson graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1973. Having spent several summers in Lake Tahoe, he decided to return. Bob has had a long and storied law practice, primarily in civil litigation matters. One notable case involved successfully defending the City of South Lake Tahoe where the claimant was injured as the result of an absent stop sign that had been destroyed in another accident a few hours earlier. The appellate court's published opinion held that an absent stop sign could not be the basis for

liability of a public entity.

Michael “Mike” P. Hambsch graduated from California Western School of Law in San Diego in 1973, and initially practiced law as a Family Law specialist, as a partner in a litigation law firm in Orange County, Calif. In 1980, he and his wife Greta, and their three children moved to Lake Tahoe, where he set up a boutique law practice in the Swiss Chalet Village until 2008. Mike and Greta were also the owners of Accommodation Station, Inc., a property management company in South Lake Tahoe, from its inception in 1976 until they sold it to the Vail Corporation in 2010. Mike and Greta have been married for 57 years, Mike has also been a California licensed real estate broker since 1977, and, although he did not sell real estate himself as a broker, he was the president of the South Tahoe Association of Realtors in 1984-85. Mike also served on the Board of Directors and was a former president of the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, and remains a member of its Advisory Board.

Mike has been “of counsel” with the Rollston, Henderson & Johnson, Ltd., law firm since 2008. Currently, his practice primarily centers around estate planning, real estate transactions, and business formations. When he is not practicing law, he and Greta enjoy traveling and visiting their children and grandchildren.

Both attorneys continue to work part-time and have no plans to retire.
