Westbound Highway 50 was closed briefly at Spooner Junction early Sunday evening after a report of a man with a rifle running on the roadway. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol arrested the man at gunpoint and recovered a rifle.
The highway reopened at around 5:50 p.m. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies made a felony traffic stop shortly afterward.
It is unknown at this time if the two incidents are related.
The situation happened at around 5:30 p.m. after Carson City dispatch received multiple 911 calls of a man running up Spooner with a rifle in his hands and then running in the middle of the roadway with the rifle.
We will update as more information becomes available.
