STATELINE, Nev. - The final approval has been received by the owners of MontBleu Resort & Spa on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe, and the name of the 43-year-old casino and hotel will be changing to Bally's Lake Tahoe.
The Douglas County Commissioners unanimously approved the name change on the liquor licenses and business license during its meeting on Thursday. Licenses held with the county were held in the name of Columbia Properties, LLC dba MontBleu and will now be in the name of Premier Entertainment Tahoe, LLC, dba Bally's Lake Tahoe.
“MontBleu is a premier entertainment asset that is commensurate with the iconic Bally’s brand. As such, and as part of our previously announced rebranding initiative, we look forward to renaming the property and integrating it into the Bally’s family," said George Papanier, president and chief executive officer of Bally’s Corporation. "Additionally, capital improvement plans are under development that will enhance the property and complement Tahoe South Events Center.”
When the name change or the improvement projects will happen was not disclosed.
The Tahoe South Events Center is being built on the parking lot of what will be Bally's Lake Tahoe. Property owner Edgewood Tahoe donated the land for a 132,000 square-foot, multi-purpose facility. Completion is anticipated by the end of 2022.
In March, Bally's Corporation has announced the completion of the acquisition of MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa from Caesars Entertainment, Inc.
Twin River Worldwide Holdings bought MontBleu and other properties, then completed its name change to Bally’s Corporation in November 2020. They purchased the Bally's brand from Caesars Entertainment. Since then they have been rebranding the company. Caesars will have a perpetual license to use the Bally’s brand at its existing Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino property.
With its latest two acquisitions and the building of a new casino in State College, Penn., Bally's Corporation will own and manage 15 casinos across 11 states, a horse racetrack and 13 authorized OTB (off-track betting) licenses in Colorado. With more than 6,000 employees, the Company's operations include 13,308 slot machines, 460 game tables and 3,342 hotel rooms. Bally's also maintains a multi-year market access partnership with Elite Casino Resorts through which it will provide mobile sports betting in Iowa, as well as a temporary sports wagering permit to conduct online sports betting in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
