Professional cycling legend Levi Leipheimer was in Lake Tahoe recently to promote the Lake Tahoe specialty vehicle license program of the California Tahoe Conservancy.
Leipheimer, a two-time U.S. national champion, Olympic medalist, and three-time Tour of California winner, has continued to use his role in cycling to advance good causes, including through his King Ridge Foundation, which supports programs serving at-risk youth across the country.
"I'm truly honored to show my support for preserving, restoring and enhancing Lake Tahoe, one of the greatest places on earth," said Leipheimer.
Visuals of Leipheimer mountain biking above Lake Tahoe’s north shore will be used in advertising in local and regional media outlets. Over 96 percent of Lake Tahoe license plate fees come back to Lake Tahoe, resulting in more hiking and biking trails as well as water quality and restoration projects.
“We’re grateful to Levi for his support of the Lake Tahoe license plate program,” said Jane Freeman, California Tahoe Conservancy Deputy Director. “Tahoe is a world-class outdoor recreation destination, and the funds from Tahoe plate sales provide a critical boost for restoration and recreation projects.”
