Body found in Gardnerville Ranchos field

UPDATE 7-5-18: The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the woman found in the Gardnerville Ranchos field on July 4. She was identified as 56-year-old Charlene Heaphy of Dresslerville, Nevada.

Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a deceased person in Gardnerville, Nevada at about 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. Upon arrival at a field off Dresslerville Road, between Muir and Riverview in the Gardnerville Ranchos, they found the body which is that of a female about 58 years of age.
The initial scene investigation indicates the body has been where it was located for seven to ten days. Investigators have made tentative identification and will be contacting possible family and friends.
The investigation remains active and no further information can be released at this time.
