SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Temperatures will warm above average this week with triple-digit heat likely for many lower elevations and mid-to-high 80s around Lake Tahoe.
The hotter temperatures will bring increased chances for thunderstorms starting Tuesday afternoon into the end of the week, but the highest chances are south of Lake Tahoe. A few afternoon thunderstorms are possible from Tuesday into Saturday with low chances for very localized rain. The primary concerns will be lightning and gusty winds.
Smoke from the Washburn Fire near Yosemite will return with latest simulations showing west winds pushing the smoke into portions of the Tahoe Basin, Alpine, Douglas, and Lyon counties Monday evening into Tuesday morning.
