National Night Out in South Lake Tahoe August 6

Event Date:
August 6, 2019 - 4:00pm

National Night Out is held across the country annually as a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It will be held on August 6 and South Lake Tahoe and the South Shore will be holding their event that night at Bijou Community School on Spruce Avenue from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Agencies involved this year are the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), SLTPD SWAT (and includes the MRAP and gear for kids to put on), South Lake Tahoe Community Service Officers, El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO), EDSO Search and Rescue, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, the California Highway Patrol (to include the mascot, Chipper!), the South Tahoe Action Team, and Barton Hospital.

Activities will include interactive booths where youth and adults can ask questions, giveaways and other activities that include free face painting. It is a great opportunity for the public to have access to law enforcement in a fun event and continue building relationships so nobody ever feels uncomfortable calling for help for any reason.

The host of the event, the SLTPD, is looking for someone who has a DJ/speaker set-up that they would be willing to donate to the event for the evening so those attending can have some music to enjoy. Also if anyone else would like to get involved or has a business they think fits the theme of this event, please contact Ashley Acker Ashley R. Acker, SLTPD records technician, at aacker@cityofslt.us.
