Lake Tahoe 'Be Bear Aware' Community Forum on Wednesday

Event Date:
July 18, 2012 - 6:00pm

A Lake Tahoe bear awareness program, hosted by the UC Davis Lake Tahoe Environmental Research Center, is slated for Wednesday at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village.
The "Be Bear Aware Community Forum" is also sponsored by the Incline Village General Improvement District. It will host representatives from the Nevada Department of Wildlife Commission, Washoe County Sherriff’s Department, Incline Village General Improvement District, the BEAR League and No Bear Hunt Nevada will offer short presentations on bear biology, impacts of human/bear conflicts, bear management protocols/policy, attractant management and other bear-related issues.
The meeting will be in the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences facility at the college, 291 Country Club Drive.

The Lake Tahoe community continues to face tremendous challenges related to trash containment and human/bear interactions. The forum is being organized so that regional agencies can update the public on research being done on bear management policies, discuss possible regulatory/policy changes and allow the public to provide feedback to local officials.
