Helicopter aides in search for man in South Lake Tahoe this evening

A missing man from the Fair Meadows Court area of South Lake Tahoe prompted a search by a CHP helicopter, El Dorado County Sheriff's officers and Search & Rescue Wednesday evening.

The man, a 66 year old from Pleasant Hill, CA, went out for a walk with his Siberian Husky late in the afternoon. When he didn't return to the home he and his brother and sister-in-law were staying at on Fair Meadows Court within an hour, his family became worried.

The family searched the neighborhood, and when they couldn't locate the man who had recently told his brother he was having trouble remembering things, they went to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department on Johnson Blvd at 6 p.m.

A search on surface streets was started by Deputy Marcus DeVaney and his partner. DeVaney contacted Search & Rescue when the unidentified man could not be located. Since he was walking with a large Siberian Husky, DeVaney told South Tahoe Now that he thought the dog could have perhaps run off into the nearby meadow and the man might have been injured while chasing it.

CHP was called to the scene where they used heat sensor equipment and a loudspeaker as they searched the meadows and nearby areas from overhead.

In the meantime, Reverse 911 was used to homes in the area with a description of the missing 6'2" man. Several tips came in that he was seen, including a couple that spotted him at Grocery Outlet. When DeVaney got to the store the man was gone, so the search continued.

The missing man was found at Rojo's with his dog. DeVaney picked him up and returned him to his home around 9 p.m.
