Search continues for woman missing from Alpine County campground

On July 28, 71-year-old Rosalynn Saxsenmeier wandered away from her camping spot in the Silver Valley Campground at Lake Alpine at 2:00 p.m. and hasn't been seen since.

Many agencies are assisting in the search and combing a 100-mile area for the El Granada (Half Moon Bay area), Calif., woman. A "Silver Alert" has been issued via the California Highway Patrol as well. Search and rescue teams from El Dorado, Tuolumne, Marin, Contra Costa, Placer and Calaveras counties have been joined by K-9 crews, CA Office of Emergency Services and the Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit.

They have been searching the area daily, and will continue to do so as since weather and water conditions have been favorable according to the Alpine County Sheriff's Office. They are using both daytime and night vision helicopters and a boat team as well as almost three dozen personnel on foot.

Saxsenmeier is described as 5'1", 125 pounds and she does not have medical issues though may suffer from age-related memory issues that cause her to become disoriented. She was last seen wearing a yellow or blue short-sleeved shirt, blue shorts and tennis shoes. She has short-reddish hair and wears glasses.
