Women injured in hit-and-run Lime scooter verses vehicle collision

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 31-year-old woman from Alexandria, Virginia is in a Reno hospital today after suffering severe injuries in a South Lake Tahoe hit-and-run collision.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, first responders arrived in the 3300 block of Pine Hill Road near Keller Road and found the victim laying in the roadway, suffering from severe injuries.

South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue and the Caltahoe JPA ambulance crew treated the unidentified woman at the scene and then transferred her onto a CalStar helicopter waiting at the nearby Heavenly Ski Resort parking lot where she was taken to Renown Medical Center. According to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), she was awake and alert when placed on the helicopter and she is currently in stable condition in Reno.

SLTPD immediately started a criminal investigation that led them on a search for exterior cameras at nearby homes on Pine Hill, Keller and Rocky Point Roads and interviews with witnesses.

They discovered the 31-year-old had been riding a Lime Scooter westbound on Pine Hill when an eastbound black SUV struck her head-on. The vehicle slowed down, then left the scene. The victim's friend was ahead of her on a scooter and not nearby when the hit-and-run occurred.

One of the witnesses was driving immediately behind the suspect vehicle.

The vehicle was identified as a Porsche Cayenne and a search of both sides of the state line began Tuesday night and a detective drove to Reno to interview the victim. The suspected vehicle was located Wednesday, and the owner is cooperating with the investigation.

No further information is being released at this time. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the SLTPD detective division at 530-542-6100.
