5th Annual Peaks & Paws to raise money for Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe

If you're ready for a day of fun in the sun with music, entertainment, beer, wine and dog-centered activities, then the 5th annual Peaks & Paws Festival is for you. This event is one of Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe's biggest fundraiser of the year. It will be held on Saturday, August 23 at the Village at Squaw Valley from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Leashed canine companions are welcome to attend.

The 2014 Peaks & Paws Festival includes fun activities for the whole family. Combining dog-centric entertainment including J.D. Platt's K9 Kings Entertainment Team featuring high-flying Frisbee & acrobatic routines, Fly-ball demonstrations, hikes and high energy-filled fetching contests, yummy wine, delicious craft beers and excellent music. Peaks & Paws attendees might even meet and adopt their dream dog.

Premium beer will be provided by Lagunitas Brewing Company with delicious wine poured by Mutt Lynch Winery.

This year's Peaks & Paws musical lineup features local bluegrass favorite, Bison Bluegrass, and the one-and-only Poor Man's Whiskey. Don’t miss this opportunity to see Poor Man’s Whiskey in Tahoe this summer.

2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Bison Bluegrass Band

2 to 5 p.m.: Low Flying Birds

Founded in 1994 by a group of volunteers, the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe has become the driving force of animal rescue and adoption for the Truckee-North Lake Tahoe area. Over the last decade it has evolved to a nationally recognized nonprofit organization with seven employees and hundreds of dedicated volunteers, offering a variety of services and programs, including adoption days, fostering, public education, pet-assisted therapy, and community spay and neuter programs.
