South Lake Tahoe police seek identity of unidentified patron in USA gas station murder

On the night of Tuesday Aug. 8, an unidentified suspect walked into the USA gas station located at 2470 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe and killed Manpreet Singh, 27, of South Lake Tahoe, with a gunshot to the upper torso.

South Lake Tahoe police detectives have been poring over several items of evidence to include the video produced by the station’s security cameras. On Friday of last week detectives released a short video clip of a man inspecting the rear of the business on the day prior to the murder, hoping to identify him.

Police have discovered another individual on the security video it hopes to identify with the public’s help. The man pictured here was one of the last customers to interact with the victim clerk prior to the murder. There is nothing which indicates the man in this photograph is a suspect. Nevertheless, because he was among the last patrons to interact with the clerk before the assailant committed the murder, detectives believe he may possibly have seen or witnessed something which could provide valuable investigative information.

The unidentified patron’s physical descriptors are indeterminate because of the camera angles. However, he appears to be Caucasian, with a couple days beard growth, tattoos on both forearms, Spitfire flat bill ball cap, Metal Mulisha t-shirt, and black pants. The man was driving a dark colored early 1990 Ford single cab pick-up truck; bed length unknown. The cab has a rear sliding window.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is working with investigators from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department, the El Dorado County District Attorney’s office and the FBI in a joint effort to identify and capture this suspect. Anyone with information regarding this event is encouraged to call the SLTPD at 530-542-6100 or Secret Witness at 530-541-6800. There is a $6,000 reward from Secret Witness for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
