View the South Shore of Lake Tahoe from six new cameras placed around the area

Ever wonder what the beach or roads look like before you head out for the day? Traveling to South Lake Tahoe and want to see a live shot of what the beautiful area looks like? That is now possible by simply logging on the the Lake Tahoe Visitor's Authority website and opening your own portal to Tahoe.

"Six live high definition cameras called were installed at various Tahoe South locations with the intent to inspire and engage ,fans to share breathtaking images with the world," according to the LTVA.

The Violet camera by Prism produces print quality imagery and a simple interface to download, share and embed across multi-media platforms. The advanced technology is utilized by these cameras, Violet by Prism, which can also offer the ability to edit content for time lapses, whether it’s during a single day, over a season or an entire year.

The cameras offer views throughout South Shore including Edgewood Tahoe on the lake; Heavenly over the Observation Deck with panoramic views of the water; Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort lake view; Ridge Tahoe Resort as the sun rises over the Sierra; South Tahoe Standup Paddle at El Dorado Beach, and Harveys Lake Tahoe with a Stateline camera.

Visitors to the Tahoe South website are able to view all six real-time 18 megapixel cameras with options to view in full screen, zoom, explore or a daily time-lapse. The cameras not only provide beautiful imagery but serve as a resource for media to utilize for articles or broadcasts.

“We always knew Lake Tahoe was beautiful, but even we were blown away by some of the moments we have captured,” said Brandon von Guenthner, one of the founders of Prism. “Some images will literally take your breath away.”

“This progressive and interactive way to highlight America’s ‘Best Lake Vacation’ (Yahoo! Travel, Aug. 2014) also provides a valuable marketing tool for our local, regional and international partners,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.
