The club held its annual BBQ on August 13. Approximately 60 guests enjoyed a BBQ prepared by the members and a fun raffle.
Guest speakers included Sheriff-Elect Jeff Leikauf, Mark Meuser (Candidate for U.S. Senate), Mary Ervin (CFRW Regional 2 Director), and David Jinkens (Candidate for SLT City Council).
Sheriff-Elect Leikauf spoke about issues facing El Dorado County. He discussed his philosophy on law enforcement and his role which is to serve the entire county and that the laws are applied fairly to all. He discussed the growing homeless situation in the county and his plan to address this issue in the most cost-effective and fair manner possible.
Mark Meuser, Candidate for U.S. Senate, spoke on several important issues facing California voters. He emphasized that low voter turnout is a problem, and it is very important to vote especially in this next election where there are so many pressing issues. He stressed that all votes do count and are vital in this upcoming election as we are at a turning point. For more information, please visit: www.markmeuser.com
SLT City Council Candidate David Jinkens spoke about listening to the people, fixing our roads, and finishing the “hole in the ground”. He believes that government needs to live within its means and limit tax increases, particularly in this difficult economy.
Tom Davis spoke on behalf of Tamara Wallace (she is running for re-election for SLT City Council).
