Labor Day Weekend in Lake Tahoe full of Activities

The is a plethora of activities for visitors and residents alike to enjoy in South Lake Tahoe this weekend.

The Great Sternwheeler Race between the MS Dixie and Tahoe Queen on Saturday at 10 am. The boats will leave their respective piers and head for their opponent's. Action at Ski Run Marina, Zephyr Cove Resort and points in between.

Sample the Sierra Saturday Event: SUP and Sip: Rent a paddle board from South Tahoe SUP, get a mini-lesson and enjoy 5 wines from Picchetti Winery. All day until 5 pm. Start at the SUP office at 3115 Harrison Avenue, South Lake Tahoe. Cost is $30. Also, Sip & Shop at Apres Wine at 3668 Ski Run Blvd. from 12 to 5 pm. 3 tastings and finger food. $10

Vintage Vatican at the Tallac Historic Site. Step back in time and tour the Pope House with Mrs. Pope. Enjoy champagne and appetizers. $12.50. Starts on Saturday at 4 pm.

Heavenly Valley Days Car Show all weekend at Heavenly Village.

Kiwanis Community Fair at the base of Heavenly Valley Ski Resort Saturday and Sunday. 10 am to 10 pm. Carnival rides, food, booths and fun.

Thin Air Chili Cookoff at Kirkwood on Saturday from noon to 5 pm. Benefits the Sugar Pine Foundation. $30 for wine, beer and chili tasting. Kids events, live music and arts and crafts.

2013 Lake Tahoe Tattoo Convention at MontBleu all weekend. Tour the booths and convention area. $10 to $15. 11 am to 11 pm.

Sample the Sierra Sunday Event: On Ski Run Blvd, enjoy food and drink from the region. $30, from 1 to 5 pm.

Fireworks over the lake. Pick any spot along the shore (or on a boat). Show starts at 8:30 pm and is synchronized to music on KRLT 93.9 FM and KOWL 1490 AM.
