South Lake Tahoe girl writes to Obama about global warming and the need of a town center

"Dear President Barack Obama,

I would like to talk about some of the things that I think should improve in South Lake Tahoe since you are coming to speak here. First, our town is very spread out - there is no place for locals to come and hang out. So I think we should have a town center."

This was the beginning of a letter 10-year-old Rosie Friedrich wrote to the President. She was hoping to give it to him during the 20th annual Lake Tahoe Summit in Lake Tahoe on Wednesday.

Rosie went on in her letter to tell him that the problem of global warming needs to be solved. She went on to discuss melting polar caps and lack of snow in Lake Tahoe.

Rosie signed it, "Proud Citizen."

While she may not have been able to present the letter to the President in person this time, Obama held her as a 2-year-old during the Iowa Caucuses in 2008. She proudly showed that picture along with the letter.

The Lake Tahoe Environmental Magnet School student went to school during the morning, but dad John Friedrich pulled her out for the Summit, an experience not many have in their lifetime.
