Special election held to replace El Dorado County Supervisor Nutting

Six candidates are vying for the open El Dorado County Supervisor Area 2 seat left vacant by the departure of ousted Ray Nutting.

With 100% of the vote counted, Shiva Frentzen led the pack with 30.96% (2,374) of the vote. Troubled and ousted Supervisor Ray Nutting's wife Jennifer is also one of the candidates. She ended up with 13.21$ of the vote.

Ray Nutting was ousted from his seat by a judge in June, after he was found guilty of six misdemeanor counts of soliciting illegal loans to make bail. A special election was called, and since then El Dorado County's election's department has been quite busy.

“The time for preparing for elections goes back four to five months,” Schultz said. “So we are been preparing for these elections simultaneously, this one [the special elections] we are conducting, and we are still working on the ballot layout for November 4th.”

The county's coffers are being hit for almost $100,000 because of this special election for one seat.

The other five candidates are Claire McNeal (10.95% of vote), Dave Pratt (15.08), George Turnboo (18.69) and Chris Amaral (10.84). Another candidate, Janet Saitman, dropped out earlier in the race.

Frentzen, who was president of the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, was ousted at a special board meeting on July 9, 2013, officials citing a conflict over her membership on different elected groups....rest of that story.
